Full Bio
Michigan native, Elizabeth Dewey, packed her bags at age 18 and moved to Nashville, Tennessee in pursuit of a career as a singer in the music industry. Dewey committed herself to pursuing this dream, even though it meant moving to a city where she didn’t know a single person. As a recent graduate from Belmont University, she finds herself surrounded by a network of mentors, friends, and industry professionals who have helped her pave the way for a long and successful career.
At a young age, Dewey knew she had a talent for mimicking and blending with voices around her. Accredited to years of choral and band experience, she has developed a strong ear for harmony and possesses the ability to learn vocal parts quickly and accurately. During her time at Belmont, she discovered her unique abilities to yodel and whistle tone, making her more desirable as a singer. In addition to these skills, Dewey is a coachable singer who displays a strong work ethic and passion for learning. Empowering and supporting those around her has been one of her greatest talents since she was a young girl. Understanding and utilizing these traits has played a large role in helping her realize her dream of becoming a background vocalist and session singer in Nashville.
Since moving to Nashville in 2019, Dewey has worked with a number of songwriters, producers, and vocal contractors to record demos and background vocals, including Tim Davis, Brent Baxter, Kate Malone and more. Although Dewey doesn’t dream to be a solo artist, she recently released a solo project as a way to show listeners who she is both as a person and as a vocalist. She cut her first single, “Red White Blue,” written by Nashville-based songwriters Danielle Blakey, Sarah Ames, and Olivia Rudeen in May of 2022.
Heavily influenced by LeAnn Rimes, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, and several other iconic country artists, Dewey’s heart resides in the genres of country and bluegrass. While she has an extensive background in both of these genres, her skills and interests do not end there. From gospel to musical theater, Dewey genuinely respects, appreciates, and understands all genres of music both as a listener and as a performer. Dewey’s flexible voice, coupled with her strong work ethic, make her an asset to any project. It is her ultimate dream to be a background singer and session singer, and she is working towards touring with a country band or becoming a member of the Opry house band full-time.
“As a session singer and background singer, I am a service provider. I’m like a chameleon- from bubble gum pop to bluegrass, I love working with different sounds to make a song a hit. It’s my passion.”
